Berlin–Z Follies 1927, Shakin the blues away

We are back in 1927 and are ready to listen to two songs from the Ziegfeld Follies of 1927. The music was written by Irving Berlin, but there were some interpolations. The main Berlin song from this revue was “Shaking the Blues Away.” It was originally sung by Ruth Etting, but the original version is not all that good.

Instead, we are going to feature three newer renditions. The first is from the 1946 movie, Easter Parade and features choreography for Ann Miller (more recently picked up and video recorded by Melinda Sullivan, using Miller’s dance routine). The best video clip of Ann Miller has been removed from YouTube, but we have a decent copy for you that is still up and running.
