Spirituals–It is Well with my soul, Hugh Bonneville

It is still the week of Passover, and Easter Sunday will be dawning soon. We are consigned to our homes and feel lonely and forgotten. We may have lost our jobs or may have lost our businesses or worse, we may have lost our loved ones.

We have been studying the concept of the River and its meaning in the Bible and in Spirituals and Gospel music. It is immaterial whether you believe in God or don’t; whether you are Jewish, Christian, Muslim or Hindu. What matters is that we sometimes need to open up our souls to something higher and greater than what we may be experiencing in our own lives.

I would like to share a story with you about one man’s epiphany in the midst of great sorrow. He jotted down some words: “When peace, like a river, attendeth my way…”

Here is Hugh Bonneville, our friend from Downtown Abbey, ready to tell us the rest of the story. And in the second clip today, we will hear Audrey Assad sing on wings of angels.
