In 1994, Show Boat was re-conceived by Hal Prince. It was darker and less optimistic than the original, and I fear it is too much 1994 and not enough 1927. One must be careful not to destroy the essence of a show in an attempt to “improve” it. Nonetheless, in today’s posts we would like to share some of the thoughts and feelings of Hal and his new cast.
