But 1928 had not come to a close for Henderson/DeSylva/Brown. They wrote and released the sheet music for a tender but decidedly bittersweet love song entitled “Together.” The most dramatic version was recorded by Cliff Edwards, aka Ukulele Ike. The simplicity of the arrangement forces us to focus on the lyrics of the song. Edwards’ voice never intrudes; that is real art.
