The last major hit song from the team of Henderson, Brown and DeSylva before 1927’s Broadway hit, Good News, was the 1926 popular song, “It All Depends on You.” Al Jolson’s Broadway show, Big Boy, was still running, and this song was interpolated into the show in 1926.

Ruth Etting and Paul Whiteman recorded the song in 1927 and both versions did well; Etting went to no. 8 on the charts and Whiteman went to no. 2.

Over time, Etting’s version has held up better.
