Henderson et al Bye Bye, Cocker

Our final version of the day comes from Joe Cocker; you may recall that this version was used in the soundtrack of Sleepless in Seattle. The arrangement features a driving rhythm supplied by the back up singers. If you have never heard the song before, listen once just to get an idea of the sound. However, after it is more familiar to you, concentrate on what happens outside of Cocker’s lead vocal. This is a masterful use of counterpoint, not harmony.
