Patsy Cline–Church, courtroom
This is Wednesday, and we are going to continue to listen to early and later versions of songs sung by Patsy Cline. In this post, we are going to watch Patsy’s first performance at the Grand Ole Opry in 1955. She is introduced by Jimmy Dickens and then Earnest Tubb, and she starts by singing directly to Tubb. Then she stands straight up, then walks over to Jimmy and puts her hand on his shoulder and sings to him a bit. These are all ways that a producer helps a young, nervous singer to get used to the stage, the lights and the audience. She is being nurtured carefully, but you will hear nothing in her voice that might betray her nerves.
Here is Patsy Cline singing “A Church, A Courtroom and Then Goodbye.”
