Romberg–Desert Song, I want a Kiss

We found “I Want a Kiss” in the 1958 RCA recording, with Captain Fontaine, Pierre and Margot singing about how to get a girl to give in and kiss a man.

The lyrics are not very romantic; they sound more like the way a caveman wooed his bride-to-be: I want a kiss; give it to me.

Subtle.

In fact, one could say that this song is very much in line with an earlier operetta from Victor Herbert (Mlle. Modiste in 1905); the uncle bellows out “I Want What I Want When I Want It.”

The lilting music keeps this trio from ever getting boring.
