Gershwin–Somebody Loves Me, Cliff Edwards
Next, we would like to provide you with a rather unique recording of “Somebody Loves Me;” it took place in 1924 a little after Paul Whiteman’s recording date. There is no orchestra, just the lilting tenor voice of Cliff Edwards and his ever-present ukulele. It rose to no. 11 on the charts.
You may remember him as Ukulele Ike, a favorite of Walt Disney; he was the voice of Jiminy Cricket, singing “When You Wish Upon a Star.” He died in poverty.
