VH–Orange Blossoms, A Kiss in the Dark

As we start this week’s music, it is altogether fitting and proper that we begin with the last memorable song from the man who would soon pass away–Victor Herbert. For the 1921 operetta, Orange Blossoms, Herbert wrote a lovely love song, called “A Kiss in the Dark.” We have three versions of that song for you today: Amelita Galli-Curci in a restored 1923 Victor recording; a 1952 on-air recording from Mario Lanza; and a recording by Eileen Farrell with Al Goodman and his Orchestra (date unknown).

Let’s start with Galli-Curci.
