Jim goes off to the Inn to find Tootles, while Jackie retires to the bedroom to put on a pair of Lou Ellen’s pajamas. Just as she reappears in the pajamas, George returns home. Jackie quickly repeats what she had told Jim and tells George that Jim is searching for Tootles. As she finishes, there is a knock at the door. The policeman enters and claims that Jackie hit him. George shows the policeman his marriage license and claims that Jackie is his wife. The policeman admits his mistake and leaves. As Jackie is ready to leave herself, it starts to rain. Ever the gallant gentleman, George suggests that she stay until the storm passes. They sing “Till the Clouds Roll By.”
