Berlin–All by Myself

Irving Berlin published a number of his best popular songs in 1920-1924, including “All By Myself” on April 27,1921, “What’ll I Do” on March 10, 1924, “Lazy” on March 19, 1924 and “All Alone” on September 9, 1924.

Ted Lewis’ recording of “All By Myself” reached no. 1 on the charts and remained there for four weeks, until it was dethroned by Paul Whiteman’s recording of Berlin’s song, “Say It with Music.”

Here is Bob Crosby’s Bob Cats with a 1940 recording of the song, and a vocal by Marion Mann.
