Berlin–Lazy, bing
While there are many splendid recordings of “Lazy,” including the Brox Sisters, Al Jolson and a Paul Whiteman instrumental, we think that the best recording was made for the movie, Holiday Inn. In the movie, Bing Crosby, a city dude, buys an old farmhouse in Connecticut and decides he will fix it up and perform there on holidays. Bing sang the song, “Lazy” while the audience watched in dismay as one disaster after another knocked Bing off his feet–sometimes literally. Bing’s brother, Bob Crosby, supplied the jazz band for this 1942 soundtrack.
