Henderson et al–Follow Thru, My Lucky Star, three versions

While 1928 was a good year, Henderson/DeSylva/Brown lost no time in starting 1929 out on a high note. On January 9, 1929, they opened their show, Follow Thru, on Broadway. Two fine songs came out of this score: “Button Up Your Overcoat,” which we have already posted and “My Lucky Star.”

Let’s start with some vintage recordings of “My Lucky Star’ by Paul Whiteman and Jack Hylton. Also, we found an interpolation of that song and “Together” in the revival recording of Good News in 1995. Both songs are beautifully performed.
