We are going to skip a wonderfully clever song assigned to Flora; it was singled out by critics in the original run because Georgia O’Ramey was such a skillful comedienne. The lyrics are fun, but the melody is not all that special. Instead, we are going to go into the song that closed Act One. Originally in Act One, Scene 1 on opening night, it was moved to the end of Act One, when the duet, between Jane and Billy, “Something to Say,” was dropped from the show.

This song is also a duet between Jane and Billy, and it is enchanting: “The Crickets Are Calling.”
