Kern–Leave Jane Wait till tomorrow youtube
Act One, Scene 1 opens with the Atwater College song, “Good Old Atwater” and then moves into a love song between Bessie and Stub, “A Peach of a Life.” Both songs are pleasant; however the third song is a treasure. Jane explains that she is in love with the entire college and therefore cannot concentrate on any one man matriculating at the college.
Again, we are indebted to jacksonupperco.com and its founder, who posted this explanation: “Fortunately, I have obtained a complete studio recording of the score, conducted by McGlinn and starring the divine Rebecca Luker (in radiant voice, I might add), that was completed but never released.” We are going to share “Wait Till Tomorrow,” sung by Rebecca Luker as Jane and a male chorus. There are some special arrangements that we need to pay some attention to, because they turn a beautiful song into a gem. Note that the first time the chorus sings, it is a rhythmic response to Jane’s melodic line. At 2:47, they all sing in unison, but the song ends in a rhythmic response.
