Pioneers–After You’ve Gone, BG, teddy and gene, 1935
We try to provide music that we can tie together under some thematic umbrella. Try as we might, no stroke of genius came down from the clouds, although it did rain a bit. Instead, we are just going to go back to Benny Goodman’s small groups starting in 1935 and play some great music for you. In 1935, before Lionel Hampton turned a trio into a quartet, Benny, Teddy Wilson and Gene Krupa laid down a classic track of “After You’ve Gone,” written in 1918.
