Romberg–Desert Song, It, Jack Hylton
The final song for today will be the song named “It.” The song is named in honor of Clara Bow and the fashion/cultural frenzy over “The It Girl.”
The song was sung by minor characters, but we found a copy of a band arrangement by Jack Hylton and his Orchestra, recorded March 4, 1927. If you sing along with the music, you will see remarkable wit accompanied by a bouncy tune that is a wonderful jazzband tune.
What it has to do with this operetta, I frankly don’t know. I just know that I like it; it fits within the time period of 1926; and makes me want to dance.
Don’t explain it; just enjoy it. You’ve either got it or you don’t.
This song marks the end of the Trio.
