Romberg–Desert Song, title song, Lanza
Finally, let’s end today’s posts with an exquisite and bittersweet duet between Mario Lanza and Judith Raskin. Why do I say bittersweet? Lanza recorded his part of the music in Rome in August/September 1959. He died shortly thereafter on October 7, 1959. Later, in New York, Judith Raskin recorded her role as Margot; at the end, the engineers managed to put the two versions together into one magnificent finale.
