Romberg–Desert Song, Why did we marry
We are going to pack a lot of music into today’s post, although two songs are minor ditties. We start with “Why Did We Marry Soldiers,” a complaint that wives have had over many centuries. We have two versions of the magnificent “French Marching Song,” meant to counter “The Riff Song” on the stage and in the field. Finally, we will provide the lovely, even perhaps brilliant song, “Romance.”
From the 1958 RCA recording, here is “Why Did We Marry Soldiers?”
