There Is Nothing Like a Dame-South Pacific by Broadway cast

We have done a trilogy on men’s choruses; we thought we would follow up with a trilogy on women’s choruses. There was only one problem with the plan–most opera and operetta choruses are mixed, men and women, or are men alone. The best laid plans, etc. Therefore, we have come up with Plan B–dueling choruses from the same show. The best example of this type of choral work is found in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical, South Pacific, where the nurses (women) were quarantined from the men. Of course, the men are more than a little unhappy about this state of affairs, and they complain long and loud in a great choral number, “There Is Nothin’ Like a Dame.”

Here is the song from the Columbia original cast album in 1949.
