Yankee Doodle Dandy–Frances Langford
Just in case you thought you had heard “The Love Nest” before on this page, this post is intended to tell you that you have. When we were studying the work of George M. Cohan, we used a lot of the music recorded in the movie, Yankee Doodle Dandy. “The Love Nest” came from a 1920 show called Mary. Louis Hirsch and Otto Harbach wrote the song, but Cohan produced the show.
In the movie, Yankee Doodle Dandy, Frances Langford (who sang with the Glenn Miller Band and can be seen in the movie of Glenn Miller) sang a medley of songs, starting with “The Love Nest,” and included “Little Nelly Kelly,” “The Man Who Owns Broadway,” “Molly Malone” and “Billy.”
Here is a replay of the medley.
